Andrew Jackson (Jack)Splawn

 

Andrew Jackson Splawn was born July 31, 1845 in Holt County, Missouri and died March 2, 1917 in Yakima, Washington. He is buried in the Tahoma Cemetery at Yakima. Jack's first marriage was to Mary A Downs in 1872. Their only child died in infancy. Mary died April 17, 1896. Jack's second marriage was to Margaret Cecilian Larsen on June 24, 1897. Margaret was born April 28, 1872 in Independence, Kansas and died December 13, 1954 in Yakima, Washington.

Jack Splawn authored the book "KA-MI-AKIN THE LAST HERO OF THE YAKIMAS". A book that describes the arrival of the first white settlers into Oregon and Washington and the impact on the Indian tribes living there. Jack also tells his part in the development of Eastern Washington and the cattle industry in that region. **More Information**
